A tale of two besties

Grabbing Grapefruit is a story that begins with two best friends that had an idea to bring their values and passion of friendship, self-love and individuality to fruition through their own unique brand. 

Libra babies

Being friends for 12 years, Abigail and Kailey’s story begin long before this. Born in October in the same hospital, within the same 12 hours, they didn’t know it at that time, but this was the first moment that their paths crossed. Fast forward to high school when they would meet and become best friends. With a little time and growth, this would really put them on the journey of creating their very own company. 

Being Libras, Abigail and Kailey would always laugh at the thought of how different they were! The representation for the Libra sign is a scale so they would always claim to be a perfect balance on two different ends of the scale. 

Balance

Being two different people and having many different interests, different tastes, and different personalities, a few things that they shared were the same - the power of self-love, community and individuality. 

Knowing that they wanted to make a difference, create something big and share their friendship with the world, they set out to build Grabbing Grapefruit, a brand for women from all backgrounds, cultures, body sizes to come together and join a family, the #GGfam.

At Grabbing Grapefruit, anything's up for grabs, take what's yours and be sweet!

    Hey guys!!

    Abby (Abbs) here! How fun is it to be introducing myself to you here, on our very own clothing line platform! Grabbing Grapefruit has become a huge part of who I am.


    When it comes to style and branding, I have always been fascinated about what makes people love investing their time into buying the products for them! I think about why I want to wear the clothes. The why is very important to me.

    The more I started thinking why, the more I started thinking about my own reasons I choose to shop where I do. It's very important to me when I can relate to a company's mission and vision and what they stand for and what they are doing to contribute to our society for the better. Having a strong ambition, a burning desire, and the best friend on the planet (I'm biased), the idea of creating something big kept building up. It became a personal mission to build a company that is inclusive, welcoming, and positive.

    When I'm not busy focusing on the company (which is rare!), I love spending time with the people that mean the world to me, my family! This most definitely includes my baby siemese Paz, and rescue kitty Pigeon! Paz definitley keeps my hands full but is the perfect little business helper, and Pigeon is nothing but a big ole’ goof ball!

    Aside from rocking it with my fam jam, nothing is better than finishing a day by spending time with my partner cooking a lovely dinner (he cooks, hehe) I'm also a coffee addict (oat milk pls) and have a strange addiction to pretzels.

    I'm just so happy to be sharing our vision with you all and the fact that you're reading this puts a huge smile on my face.

    Hi besties! I’m Kailey and I am so happy to introduce myself to you!

    Ever since I can remember, I've dreamed about starting my very own business and have always wanted to make an impact in the world.

    Being curvy and plus size most of my life, I’ve always had a hard time when it comes to clothes shopping. There’s been countless times where I’ve felt insecure about the clothing that would fit my body and having to choose clothing based on the available sizes and not the overall clothing selections that would be on hand. It’s been a mission and personal goal of mine to embrace my curves and love my body and our mission with Grabbing Grapefruit is to remember that we are beautiful the way that we are, but we also have the freedom to express who we are with what we wear. All women of all body shapes and sizes are beautiful, and I want to remind you of that and being able to ensure that all women can shop trendy looks in their size.


    When I’m not working on Grabbing Grapefruit with my BESTIE Abbs, I’m busy adventuring to different cities, drinking wine and spending time with my partner, binging Netflix (oops!) and kicking butt at Mario Cart. I'm also a sushi lover and addicted to reality TV (no, I don't want to be helped)! Lastly, who would I be without podcasts?! There are SO many, but shout out to Girls Gotta Eat, The Girls Bathroom, Call her Daddy and Crime Junkie (yes this is my guilty pleasure) [also shout out to Bailey Sarian, love yooou girl].
